I've been noticing recently that alot of the popular and most commented/favourited artworks are done by artists that are popular, sure alot of people watch them... but is there really a need for nearly every single one of their submissions to reach the front page? Is there a need for almost every one of their watchers to post a comment to the effect of "omg kewl" and "first post!!!111"

Sure, some people actually give some good critique on a popular artist's work, I know I post some critique on popular artist's art. It's not even critique, really... because I have nothing to fault in the artist's art.

But it saddens me to see popular artists dominating the front page while there are some excellent artists that are pushed to the back.



Everyone I watch deserves to be popular, but I think these two stand out to me as great photographers.
I've also noticed that not much literature reaches the front page, much of it is anime or comics that rise through the ranks to become popular. Some good writers I've found on DeviantArt:



SpiritualRocket is an excellent writer, especially when it comes to writing about his beliefs, I admire his outlook on life.
YourSharpestWords has some great ideas in his head and I love to read his work, he's only fairly new to DeviantArt, so welcome to him as well.

Alright, enough for my rant and recommending. I just don't think it's fair for the same people to be on the front page so much. I can only hope that people I admire alot get DD's!

In other news, when I get back into making/writing things, I'll try to get a subscription... I just dunno if it'd be worth it.
